Hydrate

Dehydration can sneak up on you undetected. Even when you’re driving on the road and not exerting much physical effort, your body still uses up a lot of water to help regulate temperatures. Although the obvious downside of keeping yourself hydrated on the road is frequent pee breaks, it’s a small price to pay to be safe and comfortable while traveling in hot weather.

Apply Sunscreen

And while sunscreen won’t be the holy grail that ends the condition, it is a useful product that minimizes the risk of skin cancer. Applying sunscreen while you’re outside, whether hiking or kayaking, can help protect your skin from the sun’s harsh UV rays.

Get Your Car Checked

If you plan to travel by road, make sure to have your car inspected and maintained prior. At the very least, get your car’s oil changed, have the tire’s pressure checked, and have the headlights and turn signals fixed or replaced. Oil and coolant levels should also be inspected before a long road trip. Lastly, stock some food, water, and first aid kit in your car in case of emergency.

Bring at least one pair of footwear that has treads to handle extensive walking tours or difficult hiking trails.
